BIOGRAPHY
Marc Mathelier, a native of Monrovia, Liberia began playing classical guitar at the age of eleven. A versatile guitarist and avid musician, his styles of repertoire range from Baroque to Fusion-Alternative/New Age.
 
During a brilliant career, Marc has been featured nationally and internationally. He has presented over four hundred performances and provides ever-constant support to a number of non-profit organizations and fundraisers. Among his many community contributions, Marc is a Host of Perspectives Haitiennes (Cultural Segment/91.5 fm NY), and Cheche Konnin (Cable TV Show in Rockland County, NY). Additionally, he lends his talent of recording to many film projects and featured documentaries.
Marc Mathelier, Guitarist, specializes in the adaptation of traditional music by Frantz Casseus and Amos Coulanges. His adaptations represent dialogues created from common ideas to contemporary and folk lifestyles.
Besides his CD: “Sounds and Legends” in 1998, he also released under YAMA Productions in 1986 “Apre Midi Anba Tonel”. In 1996, he wrote “Essai Bibliographique Sur La Vie De Frantz Casseus”. Marc Mathelier, Composer, contributed his original music to several CD poetry projects including the works of Angelucci Manigat, Jr., Charlot Lucien and Janie Bogart. 2011 marks the special release of compact disk recording “Souvenir” a collaborative project by Marc and award–winning vocalist Michèle Sorel.
 
Marc is a refreshing alternative to today’s standard performances. His music takes us on romantic and exotic voyages. Marc’s exotic voyages celebrate Music, Love, and Life. With deepened artistry and incomparable guitar technique Marc’s music transforms. “It’s a State of Mind”. As he tastefully arranges and creates each piece of music Marc successfully maintains introspective moods throughout his performance. His mastery of the guitar and his variety of styles make him one of the virtuosos of Haitian music. The exquisite sound of Marc Mathelier captures a distinct spirit and passion in the world of guitar. The purity of his playing elevates and suspends listeners leaving them with a lasting impression and a desire to hear more.
 
A winner of numerous awards, Marc has concertized with taste in Teatro Oficina , Sao Paulo, Brazil, E.J Hall, Monrovia, Liberia, and Rex Theatre Port-au-Prince, Haiti (Historic Concert des Trois Guitares with Marc Mathelier, Amos Coulange and Ricardo Frank). In the United States he graces many distinguished stages including New York’s Carnegie Hall, and Town Hall. He has also been presented in scholarly lecture conference at several universities namely Syracuse University, New York University and the University of Maryland.
 
Currently, Marc works as a chemist for Reckitt Benckiser located in Montvale, NJ. He resides in Warwick, New York.
