I'm aplying for a new administrator mandate in order to continue the work we have started 2 years ago. There are more and more contributions to main topic in this wikipedia (biographies, common terms, scientific, medical content, geographic content).

We are federating wide competences (researchers, linguists) on haitian creole in order to guide the structure of the haitian creole wiki; some linguistic elements are poorly described and consensus about many subjects is lacking. We've seen a great enhancement in useful contributions (bibliographies, medical content) and interwiki connections. Many of these contributions remain sporadic but things are going ahead.

I am applying for a one year term to become the new administrator of the Haitian Creole Wikipedia. It appears that there has been no such request for 6 years now and as a native fluent speaker and writer of Haitian Creole and wikimedian, I would like to take up the challenge of reviving the site and attracting editors and developers to it. I am the founder of Afrocrowd, a two year initiative to recruit more people of African descent to Wikipedia. You can find out more about our work at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC/AfroCrowd/Home. In our two years we have held editathons at GLAMS in the New York Metropolitan area and beyond on a monthly basis. We have also assisted such efforts by black groups in other parts of the country including in Detroit most recently. We were keynote speakers at Wiki Con USA at the National Archives in 2015.

I have contributed a few articles to the Haitian Creole Wikipedia in the past few years and showcased it at every editathon that we have held. I have also added several articles about notable Haitians on the English Wikipedia and trained a Haitian Creole class at NYU on how to edit. I also presented about the Haitian Creole Wikipedia at the 2015 Haitian Creole Symposium at Brooklyn College.

Please let me know what questions I can answer to facilitate a decision by the stewards.

I would like to become an administrator of the Wikipedya Ayisyen. One reason I wish to become an administrator is to delete pages that contain no content. These one sentence article pages can be moved to the Kreyol wikitionary (if it exists) so that contributions can be kept and so that authors can see the value of their work. If the Kreyol wikitionary doesn't exist, I can begin efforts to have it created.

As a contributor and article creator, I know that the Kreyol Wikipedya is very vulnerable to vandalism and I don't want to see good content removed or inappropriate contented added. One way to make sure that this is prevented is to block users that do this sort of thing. I guess you could say that I am selfish and don't want to see all the work I do to create articles get destroyed by a vandal who could seriously harm the Wikipedya in about an hour's time. I would like to also make sure that new users create appropriate usernames. These skills require being an administrator.

My good faith is demonstrated in the contribution of medical and health articles during the past few years. I volunteer in the Teahouse to help answer questions of new users. I also have considerable editing skills and can quickly edit to correct and save articles that can be improved. I have noticed that there are two kinds of editors in the English Wikipedia - those that believe content should be removed if it isn't very good and those, (like me) who hate to remove content that can be retained in hopes of future improvement. Many times I have 'saved' articles destined for deletion by the simple act of finding references to support a new editor who isn't as skilled.

I can create and edit portals, templates and categories. I can organize "Did you know..." sections. I don't know how much it matters, but I have a relatively high edit count. I am in the top 15% of medical editors and in the top 1% of all medical editors. As far as I can tell at this time, I am the only one creating women's health articles. I am a Wikipedia Visiting Scholar with the University of Pittsburgh. I have participated in many edit-a-thons in Pittsburgh. I have trained librarians and other new users on contributing. My interactions with other users is always positive and I treat each one with respect. I am slightly irritated at all the French language that appears on Wikipedya pages and am working to get that translated into Kreyol.

I am not fluent in Kreyol but love the language deeply because of the people who use it. When I visited Ayiti in 2001 to teach English during the spring break I was able to pick up enough grammar and vocabulary to communicate with my hosts. I am much better at reading and writing than I am at speaking or comprehending spoken Kreyol. This is a good thing because writing is what the Wikipedya is all about with less of an emphasis on verbal communications. I continue to improve my Kreyol skills.

I also would like to assist Aliceba (d · k) as an administrator as I may have skills that could be used, saving them much time.

The reality is that cell phone access in Ayiti has grown and cell towers exist in the cities. The diaspora is global. There are millions of speakers. This Wikipedya can provide valuable information to those who need it and I want to help make that happen by being an administrator. Feedback from those listed is sought:

(In English since I am assuming Barbara will not understand the above:) Congratulations to Barbara as well. I am not sure I would approve of deleting articles in such a small Wikipedia. My understanding is that the one liners were created by people like yourself who do not speak the language but wanted to help build the pool of articles. I don't think we are at the stage yet where we should delete those. Better keep them and invite native speakers to populate the existing templates. I plan to do outreach in that direction. Also, for the sake of authenticity and to be as welcoming as possible to the native speakers of the language, eventually, I am shooting for as little use of English as possible to resolve administrative matters on this page and prefer not to have to write all comments in both languages as it eats up too much time. I agree with you. In any instance, they can't be moved because there isn't really a ht dictionary right now - it is in the incubator phase. If I understand how this works, when contributors increase participation in building the ht dictionary, then it will become a actual project. I agree with you about deletions. I've been looking at many pages and find that even pages with a title should remain because someone might come along to complete the information. I won't do any deletions except if I find blatant profanity. Of course, someone can write an article to explain the profanity so it would be a real article and not an attempt to vandalize the wikipedya. I won't perform any deletions without asking you except the ones I have created by mistake. I have created pages with English titles. To fix that I create a page with the same title in kreyol and move the kreyol article into the new article with the kreyol title. I have a couple of more mistakes like that to correct.

Also, I've requested the creation of a ht wikiquote. This can be a repository for proverbs. I'm pretty excited with this since the abundance of ht proverbs is amazing and should be shared with the world.

j'ai ajouté ces articles dans la catégorie Kategori:Atik an lòt kreyòl. Ils sont écrits dans un dialecte qui n'est plus utilisé en Haïti depuis des siècles. Quand il existe des articles créoles sur le même item, ils sont à supprimer. Selon moi, ils doivent être tous supprimés sauf ceux qui expliquent la grammaire de ce dialecte. I add these articles in the category: Kategori:Atik an lòt kreyòl. They are written in a dialect that is no longer used in Haiti for centuries. When there are articles in inadequate haitian creole on same items, they are to be deleted. I reread the page "Kominote". I looked at the wikipedia "Community" pages in English and French. I propose to keep 2 separate pages and to review the content of the Kominote page:

• The Kafe page should be the talk page.
• The Kominote page should no longer contain discussions.
• The page Kominote must be the page with the decisions taken and the links to pages of rules, to recommendations, tasks to perform (eg the list of articles to be created by Simon Villeneuve) as wikipedia in English and French but simpler.

Universal Code of Conduct - Enforcement draft guideline reviews

The Universal Code of Conduct Phase 2 drafting committee would like comments about the enforcement draft guidelines for the Universal Code of Conduct (UCoC). This review period is planned for 17 August 2021 through 17 October 2021.

These guidelines are not final but you can help move the progress forward. The committee will revise the guidelines based upon community input.

Comments can be shared in any language on the draft review talk page and multiple other venues. Community members are encouraged to organize conversations in their communities.

Movement Charter Drafting Committee - Community Elections to take place October 11 - 24

This is a short message with an update from the Movement Charter process. The call for candidates for the Drafting Committee closed September 14, and we got a diverse range of candidates. The committee will consist of 15 members, and those will be (s)elected via three different ways.

The 15 member committee will be selected with a 3-step process:

• Election process for project communities to elect 7 members of the committee.
• Selection process for affiliates to select 6 members of the committee.
• Wikimedia Foundation process to appoint 2 members of the committee.

The community elections will take place between October 11 and October 24. The other process will take place in parallel, so that all processes will be concluded by November 1.

We are very happy about the wide range of diverse Wikimedians that are running for the election and selection processes for the drafting committee of the Movement Charter! As the number of candidates is quite large and thus informing yourself about them might be a bit more complicated, we want to try something different this time: We want to organize a so-called “Voting Advice Application (or “Election Compass) with statements related to the Movement Charter. Closing the comment period for the Universal Code of Conduct Enforcement Draft Guidelines

Thank you for your continued comments and ideas on the Universal Code of Conduct enforcement guidelines. Your responses have helped to build a stronger Universal Code of Conduct.

If you have not already provided your comments, now is the time as the drafting committee has been meeting to update the enforcement guidelines. The drafting committee wants to consider all comments as they make their updates. Please submit any comments by the end of November. The Committee hopes to finish its revisions before the end of the year, and the revised guidelines will be published as soon as they have been completed.

The next steps for the Universal Code of Conduct include conversations about ratification of the enforcement guidelines. There will be a conversation about ratification on Nov 29.

The Wikimedia Foundation will make recommendations to the Board of Trustees about the ratification of the guidelines in December. The recommendations will inform the next steps in the Universal Code of Conduct process.

Upcoming Call for Feedback about the Board of Trustees elections

The Wikimedia Board of Trustees is preparing a call for feedback about the upcoming Board Elections, from January 7 - February 10, 2022.

While details will be finalized the week before the call, we have confirmed at least two questions that will be asked during this call for feedback:

• What is the best way to ensure fair representation of emerging communities among the Board?
• What involvement should candidates have during the election?

While additional questions may be added, the Movement Strategy and Governance team wants to provide time for community members and affiliates to consider and prepare ideas on the above confirmed questions before the call opens. Community members can also organise local conversations during the call. You can find more information about this upcoming call for feedback here.

The Call for Feedback about the Board of Trustees elections is now open

The Call for Feedback: Board of Trustees elections is now open and will close on 7 February 2022.

With this Call for Feedback, the Movement Strategy and Governance team is taking a different approach. This approach incorporates community feedback from 2021. Instead of leading with proposals, the Call is framed around key questions from the Board of Trustees. The key questions came from the feedback about the 2021 Board of Trustees election. The intention is to inspire collective conversation and collaborative proposal development about these key questions.

There are two confirmed questions that will be asked during this Call for Feedback:

1. What is the best way to ensure more diverse representation among elected candidates? The Board of Trustees noted the importance of selecting candidates who represent the full diversity of the Wikimedia movement. The current processes have favored volunteers from North America and Europe.
2. What are the expectations for the candidates during the election? Board candidates have traditionally completed applications and answered community questions. How can an election provide appropriate insight into candidates while also appreciating candidates’ status as volunteers?

There is one additional question that may be presented during the Call about selection processes. This question is still under discussion, but the Board wanted to give insight into the confirmed questions as soon as possible. Hopefully if an additional question is going to be asked, it will be ready during the first week of the Call for Feedback.

OPEN CALL FOR A WIKIPEDIAN IN RESIDENCE AT PAMM

The Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) is seeking a creative and driven Wikipedian In Residence (WIR) to improve coverage of their collections on Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons, and Wikidata. PAMM is a modern and contemporary art museum dedicated to collecting and exhibiting international art of the 20th and 21st centuries.

The WIR would be helping PAMM establish Wikipedia programming institution-wide. The Wikipedian In Residence will work closely with the digital team at PAMM with access to curators and staff for support and training.

On Wikidata, the WIR will add structured data and expand items about painting objects, artists, collections, installations, exhibits, and events. On Wikimedia Commons, photos of living artists will be taken and added with appropriate categorization. On Wikipedia, the WIR will improve articles about PAMM's artists, their key collections, and the notable art movements of which they are a part. The WIR will also engage community through edit-a-thons, virtual events, and staff trainings.

They WIR will have a dedicated, expert strategic advisor helping them onboard into the role and plan their activities with weekly check-ins and ongoing support.
